Knitwear: Trendy Patterns for A/W 23/24

Brands in the northern hemisphere are embracing patterned knits for A/W 23/24.

Patterned knits take the spotlight for A/W 23/24, following a more modern direction. Classic references such as stripes serve as the foundation, but with a refreshed touch through scales or colors. Various types of animal prints and gradients, which have been popular since the summer, are also in vogue. Discover how brands have been investing in this trend:

1. Gradient

Winter gradients feature deep or earthy tones with a subtle and commercial color transition. Invest in simpler stitches to accentuate the pattern effects; for a more modern touch, opt for gradients that almost resemble color blocks.

2. Stripes

The most noticeable stripes are wide, two-tone versions. Invest in bolder directions such as diagonal placement for basic black and white combinations, while the classic horizontal stripe takes its place for colorful compositions.

3. Animal Print

The classic leopard print gets a contemporary twist with larger scales and we see a recurrence of shiny threads in simplified color compositions. Stella McCartney brought a unique proposal for this season via horse-patterned fur, as shown in the image below.
